Publication Policy

The National journal of Medical Education (NJME) is the official journal of Interdisciplinary Association of Medical Educationists (IAME), an umbrella organization of medical educators in India and beyond, across all medical specialties and sub-specialties. The journal aims to publish high quality peer reviewed articles, reviews, meta-analysis and commentaries in the subject of medical education in classroom, laboratory, clinical and community settings. The publication will be based on novelty and quality of submission as decided by the editorial board. The overall content will be inclusive and diverse in nature regarding both authorship and content, and not by any commercial or other interest.

Articles accepted by editor-in-chief will be published in subsequent or next available issue based on vacancy status and priority in publication, based on novelty and timeliness of article as deemed fit. The article submitted by authors must have ethical and other relevant clearances at the time of submission, and subsequent availability of complete dataset and consent from study participants if requested by the editor in case any dispute arises. The authorship is to be decided at time of submission itself, and any change in name and/or serial in authorship requires permission from all authors and finally the editor-in-chief, this applies both before and after publication of the article. The authors are also to submit details of funding and conflicts of interest related to their submission which will be published as an integral part of all submitted articles. Editor-in-chief may publish supplementary material if deemed necessary for clarity and understanding.

The articles will be freely available and openly accessible across various interfaces and indexing platforms. The editorial board plan to broaden the horizon over time to reach the maximum audience across different forums. The publication of articles of this journal in softcopy, hardcopy or any other form will incur article processing and publication charges as it involves editing, setting, proof reading, printing and other services. The service of the editorial board and peer reviewers are purely honorary. The role of IAME in functioning of NJME is purely supervisory and advisory.

Authors, peer reviewers and editors will follow the standards as envisaged by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Publication in NJME is envisioned to be transparent, objective and professional, starting from the time of article submission itself till final publication of printed copy. The workflow, plan of publication including ahead of print publication will be bound by these principles, and will be visible in journal website to relevant stakeholders of particular article. Authors must refrain from falsification of data, plagiarism, authorship and/or concept inappropriateness, failure to comply with regulatory requirements, and not mentioning funding and/or other vested interest.

If any dispute arise before publication, the authors will be asked to submit their clarification in writing to the editor-in-chief, who with other editorial board members may consult persons they deem fit for the particular purpose(s), without identifying the authors or institution concerned to these consultants, and take a final decision in a confidential and decisive manner on further process of publication. Post-publication, if there are submission of proof of author misconduct from respective institution, trial registry or other approved and registered bodies to the editor-in-chief, then he/she will notify to corresponding author, and follow up for retraction from indexing authorities and other repositories from her/his office at earliest.

NJME plans to start publishing 3 issues an year in first year and hope to increase the number of issues from next year onwards. The authors will submit copyright declaration at time of submission or article or at latest at time of acceptance of article for peer review. NJME will reserve the copyright for publication and subsequent broadcasting rights after publication, for dissemination of information to scientific community at large using multimedia. Any citation without appropriate referencing in any form whatsoever will be considered an infringement of the copyright of article.
